Pay day loans

The land of opportunity and milk and money. Payday loans is big business for those who live from paycheck to paycheck. Rather than pay late fees you can pay interest fees. Like the taxman that if you walk he will tax your feet, the bastion of capitalism runs on fees. If you want your money before you get paid you can get it for a fee.

Libraries in America

The libraries in America are huge. Every city has a library and every school and college too. The world famous library of congress is the depository of every kind of reference. It reminds me of the ancient library of Timbuktu. It is fabled to hold all the books of knowledge of the ancient world and was destroyed by the Romans. Libraries are important social artifacts that are reservoirs of knowledge of an age. The mentality of destroying a library seems barbaric until we realize we still hold those values today. Libraries for those in power are still only a means of control. And war leaves no sanctity in it's wake. When the US bombed Iraq it destroyed a society of antiquity. Publicly shared sentiments of bombing Iraq back to the stone age held sway. Defenders of wars may say that museums and artifacts are not targets of war but the subsequent looting is a direct consequence of war. I can imagine that current reservoirs of knowledge are vulnerable to greed and power.
Also, even as they are overflowing with knowledge there is a certain lack of coverage or dearth between these shelves. The Marxist literature are scant amongst these shelves. While self help may cover acreages little of true empowerment shines through. Even while creativity abounds yet true creativity is hard to find. These books are filled with western scholarship while indigenous knowledge and ancient knowledge from Timbuktu are vacantly absent.

Fall in America

This is the picture of Fall in America even as we experience the fall of America. The leaves are changing color and falling off the trees. Soon the trees will be bare waiting for the winter snow as we will be bankrupt waiting for the winter of our discontent.
Music that comes to mind are tunes such as "Autumn leaves" and "White Christmas."

Suburbia

American suburbia is filled with houses, streets, and trees. The trees are planted and maintained along streets and around homes to give the asphalt a coloring and freshness that can be stimulating to be around.
Notice the no parking fire lane road sign and the yellow line on the sidewalk. Spaciousness, convenience, safety, and laws are hallmarks of suburbia living in America.

Welcome to America.

Welcome to America.  Where cars are larger because people are taller. Every thing is bigger, better, and mcuh more than anywhere else. Rich, affluent, extravagent.  The culture of big spaces, power, and control.
This is a study of America. So many times western and American anthropologists go to countries around the world and analyze the local cultures through American and western eyes. Here is a collection of American observations from a foreign perspective.
